Apply for Funding

New Economy Coaltion members and past NEC grantees with annual budgets under $100,000 are invited to apply for a $5000 rapid response grant for COVID-19 support. Applications due May 15th.

The New Economy Coalition (NEC) seeks proposals from groups that are working to build the solidarity economy, who have been particularly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, and are rooted in working class communities, especially working class communities of color.

NEC’s Movement Support Rapid Response Fund is supported by the #ShareMyCheck Campaign. Funding decisions will be determined by the Movement Support Team, a committee of past NEC grantees. Grants will be issued for $5000.

The application will open on May 1, 2020 and the deadline to submit a proposal is May 15, 2020. You should expect to hear back from us by June 1.

Eligibility

The Rapid Response Fund is for NEC members and/or past grantees who are either:
  • Facing financial instability as a result of COVID-19
  • Implementing community-led solutions to the economic and/or health impacts of COVID-19
Eligible organizations must:
  • Have an annual budget of $100,000 or less
  • Be a member of the New Economy Coalition OR a past grantee of the New Economy Coalition
We will NOT consider applications from:
  • Organizations with annual budgets above $100,000
  • Individuals

You do not need 501(c)(3) status to be recognized as an organization but it will make things easier (for us and you) if you do. If you can't find a 501(c)(3) organization to fiscally sponsor your project, let us know and we'll do our best to work with you.

This application will request contact information, an outline of your work, and an outline of support needed. Please send any questions to Sachie Hayakawa at sachie@neweconomy.net.

NOTE: Unfortunately with Google Forms you can't save your progress and come back later, so you might want to draft answers in another location and then paste them into the form when you are ready to submit.
